At HERO DAWGS we acknowledge and honour the timeless bond between Indigenous peoples and their canine companions. Dogs have played an essential role in the lives, history, and spiritual practices of Indigenous peoples, symbolizing loyalty, protection, and companionship. This unique relationship continues to serve as a reminder of the profound connection that can exist between humans and animals. We celebrate and cherish the enduring legacy of the partnership between people and their beloved dogs.
How HERO DAWGS help:
1. Create a PAWSitive workplace - one that fosters engagement, boosts morale and supports positive mental health. We provide a "PAWS from the pressure" to help reduce stress, increase serotonin, and create a happy, healthy work environment.
2. Reduction in absenteeism, and presenteeism - Investing in a mentally healthy workplace can have cost savings by reducing absenteeism (employees frequently absent due to stress and anxiety), and presenteeism (at work, but distracted), as well as stress leave and lost productivity.
3. Emotional resilience and engagement - Improving the mental health of employees - making them emotionally resilient to stress - can improve thinking, decision-making, workflow and relationships at work.
4.Critical Response - Our teams are there to support staff in times of crisis, by having the therapy dogs present during critical incident debriefs.
5. Recruitment - Potential hires are attracted to a workplace that supports mental health initiatives.
Why choose HERO DAWGS?
1. We offer the highest caliber curriculum, continuing education and certification.
2. We provide superior risk management and safety standards, along with $2 million liability insurance.
3. Our teams are evaluated and specialty trained for high stress environments, and select teams are trained for critical incident stress debriefings and deployment.
4. We produce social wellness activities and events - Social interactions reduce workplace stress and improve employee health. They also improve communication and a sense of loyalty and trust in the organization.
5. We provide the best volunteer experience in the industry. Our volunteer teams are critical to the success of our program and we don't take that for granted. We pride ourselves on taking exceptional care of our volunteers.
We have an urgent need to grow, and require your help. Through community support we can further recruit and train more HERO DAWGS. Your support helps the overall well-being of our healthcare workers and first-responders, which equals better healthcare for all British Columbians.

DOGtor Burke, the canine Founder of HERO DAWGS provided mental wellness visits to our healthcare heroes and first-responders at Vancouver General Hospital.
Burke was not only a therapy dog, but he was also a blood donor at the AECFV Blood Donor Clinic, where he regularly donated blood to dogs in need.

Burke will forever be in our hearts and we thank him for his selfless service.
